Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi state has attracted the ire of some Nigerians for condemning Governor Ayodele Fayose over the latter’s order to Fulani herdsmen to leave Ekiti state in the wake of incessant clashes between farmers and cattle herders suspected to be of Fulani origin. Reacting to Fayose’s ban on cattle grazing, Abubakar said such order is unbefitting of national leaders, especially state governors.

He urged leaders to be mindful of their public utterances, especially on matters that bother on national unity and security, adding that Nigeria is in dire need of everybody’s contributions for it to be great again and for the economy to bounce back. However, Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar’s comments has been interpreted by some Nigerian as taking sides with the rampaging herdsmen who have been blamed for causing havoc in several communities across the country. The governor was blasted by angry Nigerians for daring take challenge Fayose’s order to protect lives and property in Ekiti state.
